Cairn H is in a quite a ruinous state with only the outer half of the passage now accessible. The Cairn itself is about 20m in diameter and 2.5m high, with a kerb, made up of large stones still visible. The entrance is still well preserved.

Cairn H is in a quite a ruinous state with only the outer half of the passage now accessible. The Cairn itself is about 20m in diameter and 2.5m high, with a kerb, made up of large stones still visible. The entrance is still well preserved.

History

Cairn H was damaged during its excavation in 1911 when finding the passage blocked by a fallen stone, a tunnel was dug through the roof to access the inner chamber. Finds at the site consisted of burnt and unburnt bones, a stone bead and a sea-shell.
