Folklore

Many of Ireland’s megalithic monuments are known locally as the ‘Giant’s Grave’ but this one has a story to go with the name. Folklore tells that two young giants, Lugh and Lag, challenged each other to jump a nearby gorge (the nearby ‘Giant’s Leap) in order to win the affection of a female giant. Unfortunately, Lag fell to his death and the ‘Giant’s Grave’ is where he was buried.
